1911 Canadian Census records place Edwin Allen as a Domestic in the household of Jane and Angus Bethune in Hawkesbury East, Prescott, Ontario.  Edwin was 19 born in Jan 1892, and had immigrated from England in 1908.

Attestation papers were signed 9 Apr 1915 in Sewell Camp, Manitoba, Canada.  Edwin Charles Allen was born 21 Jan 1892 in Plymouth, Devon, England.  He was a Farmer by trade.  His Next of Kin was his Brother, Ernest C Allen of 63 Danforth Street, Stonehouse, Devon, England.  5'4 1/2" in height with grey eyes and light brown hair.  His religion was noted as Church of England.

Commonwealth War Graves Registers and Circumstances of Casualty states that Edwin Died of Wounds after suffering a gunshot wound to his right arm.  He passed away at No. 22 General Hospital near Camiers, France.  He was buried in Etaples Military Cemetery, Etaples, Nord Pas de Calais, France.  Plot: X. E. 1A.

Edwin willed all of his personal effects to Miss A (Annie) Burrell of 63 Danford Street, Stonehouse, Plymouth, Devon, England.  Also noted was that his name was written as 'Edward' on the will on file.  Annie Burrell was noted as his Step Mother, his brother Ernest Courtney Allen was at the same address, possibly in service in England as the 'Serial Number 764344' was written beside his name.  Both names were listed on his Grave Registry as Next of Kin.
