Some records have the surname with an additional 'e' on the end, however the original spelling was 'Leaf'.

Additional Shipping Information:  Grey Eyes | Dark Hair | From Scarbore, England 1911 Canadian Census records place Thomas Leaf in the household of Isabella and William Garfield of 744 Marrion Street in Winnipeg, Manitoba.  Thomas was listed as an Adopted Son, born Jul 1897, about 13 years of age, having immigrated from England in 1909.

Attestation papers were signed 24 Sep 1914 in Valcartier, Quebec.  Thomas Leaf was born 18 Jul 1897 in Seaborough, Yorkshire, England.  He was a Mail Clerk by trade.  His Next of Kin was Mrs. Rose Leaf, his Guardian Mrs. Garfield was located at 485 Ressen Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba.  He appeared to be 17 years and 9 months of age, 5' 5 1/2" in height with a brown complexion, brown eyes and light brown hair.  He had 4 vaccination marks on his left arm, a scar on his right leg, and a mole on the back of his right thigh.  His religion was listed as Church of England.

Commonwealth War Graves Registers and Circumstances of Casualty state that Thomas Died of Wounds at Number 3, Canadian Field Ambulance.  He had been wounded at Ypres, West Flanders, Belgium.  His Next of Kin was noted as Mrs. Rose Leaf c/o Mrs. Garfield of 482 Rosser Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba.  Additionally there was an address for Mrs. Rose Ann Leaf of 42 Kingsdown Road, Holloway, London, England.
