Attestation papers were signed 12 Nov 1914 in Toronto, Ontario.  Frederick Charles Daffin was born 10 Jul 1890 (Later appears as 1892) in London, England.  His Next of Kin was his Mother, Elin Daffin of 11 Bucher Street, London, England.  This information also appears as Helen Crowe, of 165 Fairfost Road, London, England.  He was a Waiter by trade.  He had previous Military experience with the 19th Regiment for 2 months.  5'4" in height with blue eyes and fair hair.  His religion was noted as Church of England.


Commonwealth War Graves Registers and Circumstances of Casualty states that he had previously been reported as Missing, and then was stated Killed in Action.  Information became available stating that he had gone out with his Battalion in an early morning attack and was killed by an enemy rifle bullet near Courcelette, France.  He was buried in Bazentin-le-Petit Communal Cemetery Extension, Bazentin, Somme, Picardy, France.  Plot: B. 24.

His Next of Kin was noted as his wife, Gertrude Daffin who became Mrs. P J Murphy of Buffalo, New York, a previous address for his wife had been noted as 26 Snouneon Avenue, Toronto, Ontario, Canada.  She was also noted as living at 158 Hallan Street, Hovercourt, Toronto, Ontario.  The pair were married 1 Jan 1916.
