1891 English Census records place widowed George King in Gorleston, Mutford, Suffolk, England.  In residence is his infant daughter, Louisa M King of 7 months, and his sister-in-law Maggie Langley (22).  George was a Fisherman by trade.


Records indicate that Aaron George King marries Martha Isabella Leggett Sparks in 1893, however during this time George Edward is born with no recorded mother.

1911 Canadian Census records place George King was a Servant in the household of Ada and Ernest Honsberger in Dunn, Haldimand, Ontario.  George was born Dec 1891 and had immigrated from England in 1904.  George worked on the Farm.


1911 English Census records place the family of widowed Martha King at 46 Blackwall, Reach, Gorleston, Yarmouth, Norfolk, England.  In residence was daughter Annie Sparks (25), and step daughter Louisa King (20), son James King (16) and son Charles King (13).  Annie and Louisa worked as Sewing Machinists at Tayloring while James worked at apprentice Boot Making.

Martha noted she was widowed but had been married 18 years, had 3 children born to her, who of whom were still living and 1 who was deceased.


Attestation papers were signed 22 Sep 1914 in Valcartier, Quebec.  George Edward King was born 6 Dec 1892 in Gorleston-on-Sea, England.  His Next of Kin was Martha King of Gorleston-on-Sea.  He was a Weaver by trade.  He had 3 years Military experience with the active militia and belonged to it at the time.  He appeared to be 22 years and 9 months of age, 5'9" in height with a medium complexion, grey eyes and light brown hair.  He had a scar on his right leg.  His religion was noted as Baptist.


Commonwealth War Graves Registers and Circumstances of Casualty states that he was Killed in Action at Neuf Berquin, Nord, Nord Pas de Calais, France.  Next of Kin was noted as Martha King of 46 Blackwall Reach, Gorleston-on-Sea, Suffolk, England.  He was buried in Sailly-sur-la-Lys Canadian Cemetery, Sailly-sur-la-Lys, Nord Pas de Calais, France.  Plot: III. B. 20.

In addition to his Military memorial, his Step Mother had written on his grave, "Until the day breaks and the shadows flee away".
