1911 Canadian Census records place Horace Griffiths as a Boarder in the household of Mary Munday in Hamilton, Ontario with several of her children and other boarders.  Horace was born Apr 1883 in Ontario and was 28 years of age.  He worked as a Carpenter by trade.


Attestation papers were signed 23 Sep 1914 in Valcartier, Quebec.  Horace Griffiths was born 10 Apr 1883 in Newark, Notts, England.  He was a Carpenter by trade.  His Next o Kin was Mr. George Griffiths of 27 Ladysmith Street, Sneinton Street, Notts England.  He had previous Military Experience with 3 years with the Royal Reserves and an additional 3 years with another outfit.  5'6" in height with blue eyes and dark brown hair.  His religion was noted as Presbyterian.


His full Military file noted his brother, Claude Griffiths of 80 Wllkead Lane, Perry Barr, Birmingham, England.


Commonwealth War Graves Registers and Circumstances of Casualty states that Horace was Killed in Action in an attack near St. Julien.  His body was not recovered for burial, his name is listed on the Menin Gate Memorial, Ypres, West Flanders, Belgium.
